Lima Tour: PER/A03 Colonial Lima through a historian’s eyes, HD
A well-known historian and genealogist will escort you on a tour of the most important colonial landmarks and monuments that helped Lima’s colonial quarter enter UNESCO's World Heritage list. Our first stop will be at Convento de los Descalzos, built in 1592. En route we will drive by historic Rimac, where you will be able to see beautiful colonial constructions like Paseo de Aguas and Alameda de los Descalzos. After our visit, we proceed to Casa Aliaga, America's best-preserved, colonial mansion, which has been uninterruptedly occupied by the same family since 1535. Next is the Jesuit Convent of San Pedro, a jewel of Peruvian Baroque art. We end our remarkable overview of Lima’s colonial art with a visit to San Marcos University, founded in 1551. As the first university in America, San Marcos has been the alma mater to many of America's finest intellectuals and politicians. Here we will meet some students and share our opinions and projects.
